So, you want to look the part and are ready to work with a graphic designer. How exciting! To clarify details about working with me, I’ve compiled a list of questions and answers that I often get asked before starting a new project. 01 / I’VE NEVER WORKED WITH A GRAPHIC DESIGNER. HOW DOES THIS WORK?

I understand you may not know what to expect. Don't worry! Working with me, you’ll get a support system to help see your project all the way from start to finish. My passion is making effective design accessible to all businesses, no matter how small. And by collaborating, you can benefit from my expertise and wealth of experience. Many of your questions may be answered within these FAQs, or alternatively on my services, process or packages pages. If you’d like to discuss anything, I also offer a complimentary 30-minute consultation before you commit to working with me. When we start collaborating, it’ll be like having a new member in your team!


02 / HOW DO I KNOW IF WE'RE A GOOD FIT?

This is really important, as your design project will be a collaborative process. I will create strategic design solutions to help grow your business, but I’ll need input from you along the way. We’ll be a great fit if you are ready to invest your time, value my expertise and trust my process. Ultimately, I find the best results happen when I work with people who are passionate about their business, product, or service! As well, I understand that design is subjective, so please check out my portfolio to ensure my design aesthetic style and your vision is a good match.


03 / WHO DO YOU WORK WITH?

I partner with ambitious individuals, small to medium businesses and start-ups. I welcome clients that value quality design and believe in the power of branding. My simple, clean design aesthetic style is extremely versatile, so your specific industry does not matter; my goal is to make an impact for your business. I will adapt my skills and research around your individual needs and use my strategic approach to reach an effective design solution.

Please note, my professional experience spans almost two decades. During that time I’ve worked with clients of all sizes based locally, across the UK and internationally, from a variety of sectors, including beauty, fitness, lifestyle, retail, transport, logistics, energy, finance, public sector and charity.


04 / I’M INTERESTED. HOW DO WE GET STARTED?

The first step is to fill out my simple contact form to give me an idea about your project, timelines and deliverables required. Then, I’ll be in touch within 48 hours (Monday to Friday) to arrange a complimentary 30 minute consultation so that we can start talking about your project and make sure that we're a good fit. Next, I’ll put together a custom design proposal that confirms project scope and fee so that you know exactly what your investment is before you start. If this sounds good, you’ll sign a contract and pay a deposit, then I’ll book your project into my schedule and send you my discovery workbook.


05 / WHEN CAN WE GET STARTED?

I accept only a limited number of projects at a time so I can guarantee to devote the right amount of attention to each one. Please contact me to check my availability, as this changes all the time. Please note, I book clients on a first come, first served basis to help with consistent schedule flow. So, whether you start right away, or a few months later, a non-refundable 50% deposit is required to reserve your spot in my schedule. The sooner you can get in touch, the better!


06 / HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE YOU TO COMPLETE MY PROJECT?

Typically, a brand identity package will take four to six-weeks, including research and strategy. The start date will depend my current schedule of projects. At the beginning of each project we will mutually agree a schedule, so we both know who needs to do what, and when, to achieve the required deadline. Clear two-way communication is needed throughout, as schedules are also dependent on how prepared you are as client, and how quickly you are able to respond at each feedback stage.


07 / HOW WILL WE COMMUNICATE DURING MY PROJECT?

I work remotely for my clients, keeping in touch mainly via email, Asana (an online project management tool) and phone calls. However, you will be involved every step of the way to provide feedback and help the process move smoothly. While I’m working for you I’m part of your team – I will manage the project and liaise with everyone involved to save you time and effort.


08 / HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

I require two payments. Firstly, a 50% non-refundable deposit prior to work being started to secure your project in my schedule. The remaining 50% will be due upon completion of the project, before I deliver the final design files. With larger projects I may also break it down into ongoing milestone payments. Taking a deposit is standard practice and ensures we both understand the commitment required for us to have a good working relationship. My preferred payment method is via bank transfer.


09 / WHAT HAPPENS IF MY PROJECT GOES ABOVE THE ORIGINAL SCOPE?

My branding packages, as outlined here, are clear about what's included. Any additional items you require will be included on your design proposal so you’ll know exactly what your investment is before you start. But if anything is added on during the project or we go above the agreed number of refinements (which is rare) that is fine, I’ll simply charge my hourly rate (£50).


10 / AS WELL AS YOUR BRAND IDENTITY PACKAGES, DO YOU OFFER DESIGN FOR ONE-OFF OR EXTRA ITEMS?

Yes and no! My goal is to provide my clients with a cohesive, streamlined brand identity and premium design experience from start to finish. For this reason, I offer all-inclusive brand identity packages rather than just one-off pieces to new clients.

However, I understand that no two projects are the same and am happy to put together a custom design proposal that'll cover all your needs. My brand identity packages are created to serve as a basis for each new client project, so yes, you can certainly add as many extra collateral items as you’d like. Contact me for a custom quote if you’d like more items added to your project.

I offer a design service for one-off pieces exclusively to clients that have worked through one of my branding packages. Then, I know they have a solid brand identity already and can ensure future design projects (large or small) align with their brand vision and reflect my high standards. 11 / DO YOU OFFER WEBSITE DESIGN?

My primary focus is on brand identity design, but I am also able to offer website design to my branding clients. I use the Squarespace platform to design websites, which is both simple to use and affordable for clients. This involves me customising a pre-existing template so that it aligns with your branding. Contact me for a custom quote if you are interested in this as a branding package extension. Investment begins at £800.


12 / DO YOU OFFER PHOTOGRAPHY AND COPYWRITING?

While Beehive Green is an individually run design studio, I have a strong network of talented professional collaborators that I can recommend and work with on your project, including photographers and copywriters.

Firstly, photography. Many people underestimate the importance of choosing the right images to represent their business. It’s a cliché, but a picture really does speak a thousand words. To create the right impact, I will advise you on the right image choices for your brand. I have considerable experience of working with photographers and art directing, so will be pleased to make recommendations, arrange photoshoots and create photography briefs to make sure your investment gets the best results. Also, if you’re on a limited budget, I can source stock images, then customise the selections to better reflect your brand identity and make them cohesive across your communications.

Secondly, words. A big part of your brand personality is determined by the copy you use and the sentences you write. This is your brand voice, and is a key part of your brand identity. I have lots of experience working with copywriters on communications, so can offer advice on the tone of your communications and the style of your writing. Again, I will happily make recommendations if you’d like to work directly with a professional copywriter.

13 / DO YOU OFFER PRINTING SERVICES?

Many clients prefer to arrange their own printing, so I automatically supply print ready hi-res PDF’s for the items I design. These files are suitable for any printer to use.

Because of this printing is not included in my fees. However, I am happy to assist with the printing process and arrange printing to ensure the final product is exactly how we envisioned it. Contact me for a custom quote if you are interested in a print package.
